Learn how right-sizing heat pump water heaters boosts building decarbonization and improves plumbing codes with real-world data from 2050 Partners.
UPC Appendix M: An Alternative Method for Calculating Peak Water Demand
UPC Appendix M, otherwise known as the Water Demand Calculator (WDC), provides a modernized method for accurately (but conservatively) estimating the peak demand of the building water supply and principal branches for single- and multi-family dwellings.
Right-Sizing Central Heat Pump Water Heaters: A Path to Building Decarbonization
Learn how right-sizing heat pump water heaters boosts building decarbonization and improves plumbing codes with real-world data from 2050 Partners.
Advancing Motor Efficiency Standards Through Collaborative Research
Revolutionizing motor efficiency standards. Discover how collaborative research is driving innovation and shaping the future of energy conservation.
A Greener Future: The Future of Heat Pump Water Heaters in Commercial Kitchens
Originally presented at the the ET Summit, Senior Consultant, Maya Gantley, unpacks the usage patterns in heat pump water heaters (HPWH) widely used in commercial kitchens and how this may be a roadblock to California’s ambitious decarbonization goals. Read her breakdown.
DC Power: Closing Gaps in Codes & Standards
This article explores the potential of DC power, the hurdles to its adoption, and the critical steps needed to bridge the gap in our codes and standards. It is based recommendations from Jim Frey’s presentation at the Electrify Smart DC-Powered Buildings conference, titled “Enabling Efficiency: Closing Gaps in Codes & Standards.”
Effect of adaptive cruise control on fuel consumption in real-world driving conditions
Together with members of the Vehicle Mobility Systems team at Argonne National Laboratory, including Ayman Moawad (lead), Jihun Han, Dominik Karbowski, Yaozhong Zhang, and Aymeric Rousseau, Matt Zebiak from 2050 Partners explores the root causes behind observed efficiency differences between automated drivers and human drivers.
The Water Demand Calculator and 2050 Partners in the New York Times
The New York Times highlighted 2050 Partners and our work supporting a building technique that reduces construction cost, saves water, saves energy, and improves water quality. 2050 Partners is proud to be supporting this work through field studies and building code advocacy.
Case Study: Building a Code Readiness Research Program for a Decarbonized Future
Case Study: Building a Code Readiness Research Program for a Decarbonized Future How 2050 Partners Helped Launch California’s Code Readiness Research Program to Support Decarbonization and Electrification Client Pacific Gas and Electric Company leads the Code Readiness research program to support the achievement of the state’s building decarbonization goals. The Issue The Code Readiness program expanded its scope and improved its data collection on emerging electrification technologies, particularly heat pumps, to ensure that future code cycles would be grounded in reliable performance data. Without clear data and a forward-looking strategy, regulatory advocacy efforts could fall short of best advancing effective, enforceable building codes aligned with
