LEADERSHIP TEAM

Ted Pope has over 30 years of experience in the Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management field. His areas of focus have been regulatory process facilitation and negotiations, organizational leadership, energy efficiency program and portfolio design and implementation management, energy efficiency measure technical and market analysis, and energy efficiency policy work at the state and federal levels. During his 20+ years as a consultant, Ted has advised and consulted for organizations such as Hawaii Public Utilities Commission, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the Association of Bay Area Governments, California Energy Commission, and the Cool Roof Rating Council. He coordinated a team of consulting firms that is conducting a variety of retrofit and new construction building research projects for the PG&E Code Readiness Program. Ted oversaw the Energy Efficiency Manager team hired by the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission to oversee Hawaii’s statewide energy efficiency portfolio implementer and EM&V consultant. In 2016 and 2017, he facilitated the California Energy Efficiency Coordinating Committee (www.CAEECC.org), the public discussion forum authorized by the CPUC in 2015 for input into the design and implementation of 10-year Energy Efficiency Business Plans. In 2000, Ted launched and then oversaw through 2015 the growth of one of the country’s leading energy efficiency codes and standards consulting practices, which has contributed to most of the state and federal appliance standards adopted in the country in the last decade. Ted has designed, implemented and overseen the implementation of a variety of residential and commercial water and energy efficiency programs on behalf of his government and utility employers and clients.
Ted earned his Bachelor of Science in City & Regional Planning from Cornell University, College of Architecture, Art and Planning, with a concentration in engineering.
He lives in Orinda, California, with his co-founder and wife, Whitney Pope.

Whitney Pope co-founded 2050 Partners in 2015 to help utility, public, private, and non-profit clients shorten the path to carbon neutrality. Whitney has a significant role in managing the daily operations of this start-up majority women-owned California Benefits Corporation. She is instrumental in subcontracting with a wide array of experts who support our projects. Whitney enjoys communications and has held several roles involving development of communications systems for stakeholders.
She was responsible for the original communications system for the California Energy Efficiency Coordinating Committee (“CAEECC”), the public discussion forum authorized by the CPUC in 2015 for input into the design and implementation of 10-year Energy Efficiency Business Plans. She is also detail-oriented and enjoys projects where she can use this skill.

Alex Chase provides leadership, execution, and strategy development for energy and climate related projects. He has helped lead clients in the utility, public agency, and non-profit sectors to achieve significant success through their energy efficiency, water efficiency, and clean transportation programs. His work contributing to state, national, and international codes and standards has spanned hundreds of product categories and has played a role in shaping energy and water use and policy in California, the United States, and beyond. He has helped design and implement award-winning incentive programs.
Alex holds engineering degrees from Northwestern and Stanford. He has taught a graduate-level course at Stanford on the energy demand-side management industry.
He lives in Oakland with his wife and two children.
Consultants

Grant Alpert is a professional with over 8 years of experience in automated driving and sustainability. He brings expertise in project management, data analysis and strategic communication, with experience across renewable energy, automotive, and sustainability sectors. Grant is skilled at translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies and compelling narratives. He has experience with automated driving at General Motors and various renewable deployment methods and technologies from during his graduate degree consulting projects at University of Michigan. His achievements include leading a climate risk scenario analysis for Steelcase to understand supplier and customer pain points and understanding of climate risk, driving operational efficiency improvements and algorithm development at General Motors, and conducting market expansion research for AES and CalWave.
Grant has dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Sustainable Systems from University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s of science in Mechanical Engineering from Berkeley. Grant lives in Berkeley with his wife and dog, Mozzarella.

Turner Anderson has over eight years of experience in the energy, climate tech, and commercial refrigeration industries, where he has been focused on helping his employers and their customers generate clean energy, improve demand flexibility, and reduce their direct carbon emissions. At 2050 Partners, Turner supports codes and standards advocacy and testing efforts for commercial refrigeration equipment. Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Turner worked at Siemens Energy, Axiom Cloud, and Aurora Solar, where he built a track record of proposing and implementing data-driven solutions that lead to quantifiable energy, emissions, and cost savings. Turner's diverse experience in engineering, project management, and technical sales allows him to positively impact any aspect of a project while collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.
Turner has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife and their two huskies.

Fawn Brooks has over a decade of experience and responsibility in utility consulting and climate change research. She is experienced in leveraging data to improve efficiencies, develop strategies, and drive process improvements. Fawn’s educational background is in climate change and hydrology focusing on statistical and spatial analysis. She is adaptive, flexible, and able to learn, synthesize, and apply new concepts and technologies to solve problems.
In her current role as Senior Consultant, Fawn supports the CalMTA (California Market Transformation Administrator) program by providing process development, analysis, and research. In her previous role, she managed the implementation of four energy efficiency and demand response programs.
Fawn holds a Bachelors of Science in Geography with Environmental Analysis from the University of Louisville.

Emma Conroy is an experienced consultant and project manager who has supported a wide range of clients across both the private and public sectors. Emma started her career on the renewable energy services team at The Cadmus Group, where she researched US energy policy and evaluated net metering applications and inspection reports for the Massachusetts System of Assurance and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. Later, she worked for six years as a research consultant, conducting market research studies for Fortune 500 clients and evaluating existing programs and potential software investments in the public sector. Across her career, Emma has developed expertise in marrying primary quantitative and qualitative research to measure the financial impact of programs and investments to improve decision-making. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from Tufts University and currently lives in San Francisco.

Josh Dean has over 15 years of experience in the sustainability, construction, and real estate industries with a focus on energy policy and building decarbonization. He has extensive experience working with state and local government agencies, businesses, and NGOs to deliver on energy efficiency projects, develop and evolve building codes, standards, and policies, and education on sustainable building practices. Before joining 2050 Partners, Josh was the Executive Director of the California Energy Alliance (CEA). At CEA, he spearheaded advocacy efforts, education & outreach programs, fostered strategic relationships, and managed research projects focused on appliance energy efficiency standards and decarbonization strategies. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and LEED Accredited Professional (AP) in Operations and Maintenance (O+M). Additionally, Josh actively participates on the City of San Diego Climate Advisory Board, Greenbuild Advisory Board, and City of San Diego Building Performance Standard Working Group.

Amy Droitcour has over 20 years of experience in engineering research, product development, and data analysis. Her experience includes managing complex projects, developing quantitative decision-making models, and synthesizing technical, business, and market information into presentations for diverse audiences. Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Amy held leadership roles at four deep technology startups in the medical and energy fields. Most recently, she was Chief Technology Officer at Adnoviv, where she led development and client implementation of next-generation occupancy monitoring sensors to improve building energy efficiency and demand responsiveness. Amy is a founding board member of Friends of Coal Creek, and serves as Board Chair of the organization, which works to build quality, contiguous habitat along an urban waterway that spans several municipalities. She has also volunteered with other sustainability-focused organizations, including Ecocycle and Wildlands Restoration Volunteers.
Amy is an inventor on six issued patents, and has co-authored a book and several peer-reviewed publications, including the 2023 Best Paper Award winner in Building and Environment. She holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University (BS) and Stanford University (MS and PhD).
She lives with her husband and two children in Boulder County, Colorado.
Brian Finn is a seasoned energy professional excelling in decarbonization and energy efficiency strategies across the built environment. At 2050 Partners, Brian supports utilities and government initiatives in market transformation, codes and standards, and energy modeling.
Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Brian was an engineer with boots on the ground, determining feasibility for Central Heat Pump Water Heating retrofits. Brian managed numerous high-profile projects, contributing significantly to decarbonization initiatives for California’s disadvantaged communities. Brian's former role as founder and CEO showcased his entrepreneurial acumen, scaling business operations, and fostering high standards in Title 24 compliance and energy consulting. His early career as a research professional involved coordinating with environmental agencies and conducting advanced sampling and spectroscopic analysis on aerosolized particulate emissions, holding heavy emitters accountable through science.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from UC Davis and studied Energy Management and Business at Technische Universität Berlin.
He resides in Washington State with his ward.

Maya Gantley is a green building professional with over six years of energy efficiency and decarbonization project management and consulting experience. At 2050 Partners, she manages field demonstration and lab testing projects under the Codes and Standards Code Readiness program. She also supports the California Building Energy Modeling (CalBEM) collective. In all endeavors, Maya brings a passion for supporting high-efficient building solutions that reduce carbon emissions, improve occupant comfort, and support a resilient future.
Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Maya worked at the Association for Energy Affordability, where she provided both technical and program management support for energy efficiency programs. During that time, she guided multifamily buildings through whole building retrofits by creating energy models, calculating energy savings, and producing detailed retrofit recommendations. Maya also has extensive experience building energy models in CBECC and EnergyPro to help all-electric multifamily new construction projects meet and exceed CA Title 24 compliance requirements.
Maya earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Kyle Garske is an experienced mechanical engineer and sustainability consultant with over 7 years of expertise in design engineering, building performance, and data analysis. He has guided clients through the design and development of high-efficiency green buildings as well as certifications with green standards such as LEED. Kyle brings his engineering expertise, building mechanical system design in commercial and high-rise residential construction, and energy analysis in software such as eQuest and IESVE to 2050 Partners.
Kyle graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Nicole Hathaway has 15 years of experience in energy efficiency, lighting research, and technical communications, with a focus on advancing building decarbonization and standards. She has addressed sustainability challenges at multiple scales, leading initiatives that integrate innovative technologies, community wellbeing considerations, and emerging decarbonization strategies. Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Nicole spent her career at the California Lighting Technology Center at UC Davis where most recently she served as Technical Communications Director and R&D Engineer IV, leading collaborations with the California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission, and the statewide Codes and Standards Enhancement Team. Nicole combines her expertise in research and development, project management, and technical communications to drive impactful change, advancing innovation for decarbonization, grid resiliency, and community wellbeing.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Geology from the University of California, Davis. She lives in Sacramento with her husband and two young daughters.
Eva Hidalgo is a seasoned engineer with over eight years of experience in production and project engineering within chemical plants and refineries. As an Energy Coordinator, she played a pivotal role in achieving facility Energy Star Certification and spearheaded a successful flare gas recovery decarbonization project. With a strong focus on optimizing processes and advancing sustainability, Eva excels in driving efficiency and implementing innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact. She is known for a results-oriented approach, combining technical expertise with a commitment to achieving high standards in energy management and operational excellence.

Erin Jones is a data scientist and strategist specializing in leveraging data to accelerate the path to carbon neutrality. Her experience in computational sustainability and data-driven decarbonization includes working with the data science team at Span.io, computational analysis of sustainability reports, and advanced time series analysis for spatial carbon emissions data and appliance efficiency. Erin holds her master's in information management and systems, with a focus on applied machine learning, from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to graduate school, she gained experience in operations at an IT Consulting firm where she honed her skills in executive advising, program management, process improvement, digital transformation, and contracts administration.

For over 10 years, Edie Taylor has been helping large organizations to set and meet sustainability goals, with a specific expertise in building energy efficiency and decarbonization. Her work with government entities, as well as private organizations, has produced reduced carbon and moved the industry towards deeper thought on important topics such as demand flexibility and electrification.

Elise Wall enthusiastically embraces the four Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and #RStats. At 2050 Partners, Elise supports utilities and government agencies by researching modeling methods for the electrical grid (BUGMAP) and leads data analyses for building and appliance standards, including cooktops, water heaters, and pipe sizing. She also served as the founding program manager for the CalBEM initiative. Through her work, Elise strives for effective solutions, lasting consensus, and cooperative relationships.
Before joining 2050 Partners, Elise helped a variety of clients achieve their goals in the politics and science of sustainability. Consulting for small businesses and Fortune 100 companies, Elise guided products and sites into compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Working at national labs and academic institutions, she experimented with pollutant mobility in high-precision laboratories and developed novel pollution prediction tools for UCSB's Chemical Life Cycle Collaborative.
Elise holds a Masters in Environmental Science and Management from UC Santa Barbara, specializing in energy, climate, and pollution prevention. She also has a BS in Biological Chemistry from Beloit College and has completed coursework at the International Statistical Institute.

Matt Zebiak is a professional engineer with over 13 years of experience in energy optimization, sustainable engineering, and energy product strategy. At 2050 Partners, Matt is focused on accelerating deployment of EV infrastructure through improved building codes, designing building performance standards and home energy labeling programs, modeling the energy impacts of several market transformation initiatives in California, and performing research in the clean transportation sector. Prior to joining 2050 Partners, Matt spent seven years at General Motors improving the energy efficiency of both internal combustion and electric vehicles and later developed GM’s overall energy technology strategy. He has submitted seven patents focused on improving energy efficiency and served as the lead on a collaborative project with GM and Argonne National Laboratory focused on saving energy in transportation through automated driver behavior.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Tucson with his wife and their mini goldendoodle, Waffle.

Christina Alvarez is an operations and customer experience professional with a track record of optimizing processes, driving engagement, and delivering results. With over a decade at Apple, she led high-performing teams, enhanced operational efficiency, and improved customer satisfaction. She designed and implemented a store-wide initiative that saved over seven hours weekly while fostering team collaboration and engagement. Christina thrives in dynamic environments, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution to drive impactful change. She is passionate about problem-solving, efficiency, and building strong relationships that enhance both team performance and customer experiences.
Torri Christian has more than a decade of experience across government and private sectors as an attorney, operations lead, and project manager. She is experienced in various areas of employment and administrative law, including a successful track record of litigation against oil and gas companies. She has managed staffing, reporting, and compliance for large public and private awards, and has successfully led operations initiatives and project management offices for state governments, nonprofits, and businesses undergoing periods of rapid growth and transformation.

Carrie Hillen has over 20 years of client and customer service experience in accounting, litigation consulting, banking, and recruiting and placement services. As an accountant and litigation consultant Carrie analyzed large sets of data, developed complex financial models, and conducted detailed market analysis. For ten years, Carrie and her husband owned and operated the largest domestic placement agency in California. Prior to selling the company, Carrie was responsible for hiring and managing staff, developing new service lines, and managing the final resolution of all escalated customer service issues. With 2050 Partners, Carrie enjoys the variety of responsibilities from recruiting and onboarding of new employees, assisting with proposal development, and administrative roles on client projects.
Carrie has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA and a Master of Business Administration from the Walter Haas School of Business.

Emma Pang is a multifaceted professional with a passion for data analysis and operational excellence, with a track record in marketing, sales, and operations. Her background includes roles in marketing and communications, leveraging data-driven strategies to elevate brand visibility, and ensuring data quality for high-profile clients. Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, supplemented by a minor in Chinese Studies from The New School. In early 2020, she undertook a rigorous 26-week Data Analytics program at Columbia University, fine-tuning her analytical skills and engaging in diverse projects involving machine learning, Python, and other coding languages.
